Google Core Update Message

On June 30, 2025, Google released its June 2025 core update. This update is the second major update this year, after the big announcements that were made 3 months back. As per Google, it might take around 3 weeks for the complete implementation of the update. Hence, we can expect a change in rankings from around the last week of July.

Google explained that once deployment finishes, it will update its ranking release history page to confirm completion.

The primary purpose behind this core update is to keep the search results fresh and relevant for everyone.

How Core Updates Work?

As a routine step to keep its search results fresh and updated for everyone, this update is a regular process of Google. Core updates are comprehensive changes to Google’s ranking system.

They are not punishments aimed at particular sites. This is just an effort from Google to recognize the websites that are actually delivering the straight answers to common questions asked by people.

Just understand it with a simple example. Back in 2018 you published a blog listing the best smartphones of the year. Now it’s 2025, dozens of new handsets have hit the market and your list feels outdated. What would you do? You’d refresh it with your 2025 favourites otherwise you’re missing out on all the latest smartphones.

Google works the same way. It gives priority to fresh, relevant and value-delivering content rather than sticking to old and dead content.

Things to Focus on To Stay Relevant After the Core Updates

  • Focus on People & Not on Search Engines

You need to focus on writing content that someone would find genuinely useful. While you write, ask yourself: “Is this content contextual? Does it satisfy the user’s intent? Does it answer the questions people are looking to have solved? Is it informative enough to help them with their problems?”

If your content is repetitive and doesn’t meet these standards, chances are high that Google would simply ignore it.

  • Try to Demonstrate Your Expertise & Build Some Trust

Earlier, it wasn’t that important, but now you need to showcase your expertise with your content. There are various ways to do so. You can include a short author bio and links to credentials. A short bio makes the user and Google feel & believe that the content is prepared & published by an expert.

  • Boost the User Experience On Your Website

SXO is getting more & more popular & important. What is SXO? SXO stands for Search Experience Optimization. Search Experience Optimization is optimizing your website pages such that it boosts the user experience on your website.

When a user lands on your website, how much time do they spend? Your average engagement rate, loading speed, layout shifts, and experience on mobile devices all matter. A fast-loading, clean website makes users stay longer, and even attracts them to visit again.

  • Focus on the Technical Structure of the Website

It is important to keep your site technically healthy. There should be no dead ends on your website. Each link on your website must redirect users to relevant pages and not to a 404 error page. The structured schema markup is equally important here.

  • Make Long-Term Meaningful Improvements & Say No to Quick Fixes!

When website rankings drop, chances are high that you might panic and make quick fixes, and it might be a major mistake on your end. You might be inclined to remove some sections from your website or remove entire web pages. However, Google itself highly advises against it. Rather than making quick fixes, make sure to make long, meaningful improvements on your website content.

  • Self-Assessments for Continual Improvements

Once the core update has fully rolled out, review which pages were most affected and evaluate them against Google’s self-assessment questions. Self-assessment is one of the most crucial and necessary steps to improve your website content and make sure that it stays fresh and relevant and keeps on delivering the value your audience deserves.

  • Clear Out Content Having Low Value

If you have pages on your website that aren’t delivering any value to the readers, it would be best to remove them and replace them with some high-value delivering pages. A page having no or low value would be easily ignored by Google, and it won’t do anything good to you.

Content Guidelines to Keep in Mind

Google June 2025 Core Update

  1. Offer original insights. Provide a fresh and relevant perspective to the domain you are covering. Research more, and try to incorporate facts into your content.
  2. Cover your topic in depth. After you answer the primary questions, think of likely follow-up questions and answer them right away. Basically, your content should efficiently answer commonly asked questions revolving around the domain.
  3. The concept of Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (EEAT) is way more important. Your content should showcase your expertise, establish your authority and boost the trust among your target audience.
  4. Use clear and accurate language in your content. Check every fact. Use headings in a way that they summarize your section. Stay away from writing titles that are misleading.
  5. Your content should be something that people want to share. The only way here is to make your content deliver the value that your audience deserves. Be creative, be clear and most importantly, be on point.
  6. Be transparent about who you are. As mentioned, a short bio or introduction about the author would reflect the expertise and set up a base for the trust factor.
  7. Follow an organic SEO approach. Make sure that your URL, meta descriptions, headings, etc., match the content and are relevant. Use structured data only when it reflects exactly what a visitor sees on the page.

Conclusion

We are in times where artificial intelligence plays some role in every part of the website. Search engines are changing the way they work, social platforms are working in different ways, and generative tools are changing the way people get information. However, one important aspect that AI fails at is maintaining the originality and adding the touch of human emotions.
